Birth notification, registration and recognition

Overview

A notification of birth can be made by visiting the Malta Public Registry Offices in Mater Dei Hospital, Msida and  Onda Building, Aldo Moro Road, Marsa in the case of a birth occurring in Malta, and the Gozo Public Registry, 132, Level 2 George Borg Olivier Street, Victoria, if the birth occurred in Gozo, online by visiting the Identità website https://identita.gov.mt or by post by sending an email to [email protected] for Malta and  [email protected] for Gozo.


Public Registry staff will assist the parent/s in completing the ‘Declaration for Notification of Birth Form’. The parent/s of a child born in Malta is/are obliged to notify the birth within fifteen (15) days of birth.

What you'll get

Once the birth is notified and processed by the Public Registry, your child’s birth will be registered, and an Act of Birth produced. Once the Act of Birth is registered the parent/s is/are informed  either by an SMS or an email.

 
The Birth Certificate can then be ordered from the Public Registry website https://certifikati.identita.gov.mt/en/

Visit the Malta Public Registry offices in Onda Building in Marsa, Mater Dei Hospital in Msida or the Gozo Public Registry in Victoria, Gozo.
