The Tap Water Scheme (TW) scheme is administered by the Regulator for Energy and Water Services to reduce the use of plastic containers utilised for bottling water, by using activated carbon filters. This scheme is funded through national funds and applies to private individuals (natural persons) for use on their residential properties, and for organisations that are not carrying out an economic activity.
This initiative follows the water quality harmonisation efforts by the Water Services Corporation (WSC) and forms part of REWS’s broader objective to encourage sustainable water use and reduce reliance on bottled water.
Activated Carbon Filters. Voucher covers 100% of the cost, up to a maximum of €100, thereby removing the financial burden for households in need.
Eligible households were issued a voucher that could be redeemed with a registered retailer for the purchase of approved filtration equipment. The voucher was issued to all eligible households as from 1st July 2025 and was sent by post.
