Overview

With the aim of continuing to strengthen Carnival in Gozo as a cultural activity that attracts an audience from Gozo, Malta and abroad, and therefore also gives an economic contribution to Gozo, the Ministry for Gozo and Planning is launching a scheme so as to assist individuals/organizations to rent a property that can be used to build floats or grotesque masks for the Gozo Regional Carnival 2027.

What you'll get

Each applicant may be granted up to a maximum of twenty-five thousand euros (€25,000.00) per year for the rental of premises to be used for the construction of floats under Competition Number 15 and Competition Number 16, and up to a maximum of ten thousand euros (€10,000.00) per year for the rental of premises to be used for the construction of grotesque masks and small floats under Competition Number 14.

Eligibility

A declaration from the owner of the premises stating that the property is available for rent;

 

A declaration that the construction of the floats or grotesque masks will comply with the Carnival regulations as issued by the Directorate for Cultural Heritage within the Ministry for Gozo and Planning, which regulations are attached in the ANNEXES;
 

A declaration that the work to be carried out in the premises will be related exclusively to the Gozo Regional Carnival 2027;
 

A declaration that the rented premises will not be used as a storage facility for items not related to the Carnival;
 

A declaration from the owner of the premises stating that the property is available for rent. It is also a requirement that the premises to be rented are located in Gozo;
 

Copies of the Planning Authority permits, including copies of the latest approved plans of the premises as issued and printed by the Planning Authority. These copies must be signed and dated with a recent date stamp by a Perit (architect);

A certificate from a competent individual registered with the OHSA confirming that the premises comply with Health & Safety laws;

 

A photograph of the interior of the premises to be rented; a photograph of the façade; a photograph of the street;
 

Proof that the premises are fully compliant with the laws of the Occupational Health and Safety Authority and any other applicable regulations. Accordingly, the person certifying the premises must be registered with the OHSA;
 

If the applicant is an NGO, a certificate declaring that such NGO is compliant is needed with the requirements of the Voluntary Organisations Act and its subsidiary legislation 492.01.
