  • Application - Monitoring (DSS)

    The primary objective of this service is to give visibility to both beneficiaries and applicants about the status of their applications or benefits over the past twelve (12) months. This includes details on current and active benefits, as well as pending benefits that are under review and awaiting approval by the Department of Social Security.

  • Applications and Services - A to Z (DSS)

    The Department of Social Security (DSS) offers a comprehensive range of online applications and services to facilitate access to various benefits and services. These services are designed to support individuals and families in diverse life situations, ensuring timely and efficient processing of applications. Whether the application is related to retirement, maternity, disability or other social benefits, our online platform makes it easier for you to apply and receive the support you need. The DSS has made it easy for citizen to access all of its online applications and services in one convenient location. By clicking on the provided links, you will be directed to an alphabetical list of all available applications and services without having to navigate through information sheets for each individual application or service.

  • Banking Details (DSS)

    This service allows you to update your banking details held by the Department of Social Security for receiving benefit payments. If you currently receive payments by cheque, you must switch to direct deposit. If you already receive payments by direct deposit, you may update your bank account number which will now be referred to as IBAN (International Bank Account Number).

     

    You may also opt to receive an SMS notification indicating the date your benefit will be deposited. However, this service cannot be used to change your payment method from direct deposit back to cheque.

  • Benefit Certification - Foreign Beneficiaries (DSS)

    If you are a social security beneficiary in receipt of a retirement pension, invalidity pension, or widow/er’s pension from the Department of Social Security of Malta and currently residing and being paid abroad, you can generate your benefit rate certificate online.

  • Benefits Rates (DSS)

    You can view information about all the social security benefits rates provided by the Department of Social Security for visibility to the citizens, organised by clusters. The benefits rates information covers the last five (5) years, up through the end of the current year. The benefits rates are shown in chronological order and apply to both couples and single people.

  • Blue Medical Certificate - Monitoring (DSS)

    This service shows blue medical certificates submitted to the Department of Social Security for the previous five (5) years. The blue medical certificates are listed according to year and presented chronologically.

    A blue medical certificate for a long-term sickness, may be submitted to the Department of Social Security every fourteen (14) days.

    A person is not required to submit a blue medical certificate to the Department of Social Security if the period of illness is three (3) days or less. Hence, a certificate of three (3) days or less will not be listed in this service.

  • Blue Medical Certificate - Submit (DSS)

    A blue medical certificate must be completed by a medical practitioner. This certificate can be submitted online to the Department of Social Security within ten (10) days from the first (1st) day of sickness. The only exceptions are in cases of hospitalisation or treatment abroad.


    Claimants must ensure that the address written on the certificate matches the official address held with the Department of Social Security, which will be used by the department for all official correspondence. Therefore, no changes will be made to the official address held by the Department of Social Security if it differs from the one submitted on the certificate.

  • Children's Allowance Calculator (DSS)

    The Children's Allowance Calculator is an online tool provided by the Department of Social Security (DSS) in Malta. It allows families to calculate an unofficial projection of the Children's Allowance they may be eligible for. This service is designed to be user-friendly and accessible, ensuring that families can easily estimate their benefits.

  • Contact Details - Update Foreign Address (DSS)

    This service provides a non e-ID holder issued by Maltese government agency Identità, the facility to update your postal address registered with the Department of Social Security if you are going to reside abroad or if you are already residing abroad and want to change your postal address to a different country.

     

    However, if you are residing abroad and you already have a foreign postal address registered with the Department of Social Security, you can do an online update to your postal address within the same country of residence by clicking here. You need to authenticate with your e-ID which is issued by Identità to have access to this online service.

  • Contact Details (DSS)

    Before updating your Maltese postal address registered with the Department of Social Security, you must first update your Identity Card details with the Maltese government agency Identità. This step is essential to maintain consistency across official records.

     

    If you need to update the postal address registered with the Department of Social Security when moving abroad or returning to Malta, click here.  This update will not take effect immediately, as it requires verification by the Department.
